Classes

                    Please join us for one or more of the classes that follow.   In most of these classes, it is only    

                    the quilt top that is being taught.  Other classes for finishing are usually available.

                    Please keep in mind that projects identified as baby, kids, and lap quilts can be easily  

                    modified to make bed quilts.  Also, the exact fabrics used in the samples may not be available;

                    We'll do our best to find something that will be pleasing to you.

                    If you don’t already know, copyright laws prohibit reproducing books and patterns.  So, if a

                    book or pattern is used for a class, purchase is required.

                    Remember our class policy:  Class fees are due at registration.  If you cancel a week prior   

                    to class, a refund will be given.  There is a class minimum of 3 people and cancelled classes

                    will be refunded. 

                    A housekeeping note – please turn off your cell phone or put it on vibrate so that classes

                    are not disrupted.

             Come and spend a leisurely Sunday with LouAnn and finish an old project or start a new 

             one.

             This is beautiful!  This quilt is based on an upcoming book by Sara Nephews – The blocks

             are done the same as a log cabin design – the exception is that it is based on a diamond or

             triangle instead of a square using 1-1/2 inch strips.

             Saturday, September 6, 10:30-3:30

             The captivating appeal and charm of this quilt are in the deep rich colors of the assorted

             tiny-patterned floral and paisley fabrics. Collectively, the stars work together with a neutral

             background. You will sew a large expanse of blocks, then display and carefully organize

             them into small compositions. The delicate panoramic stars are then clustered beautifully

             into a pleasing pattern and sewn. This is not a fast project, but the transformation of the

             pieces will please you.

             A great beginner class for those who want to use the machine to piece, quilt and finish a

             great little baby quilt or table topper. This class will include piecing your quilt top, simple

             machine quilting the quilt and finishing the quilt with adorable prairie points around the edge.

              quick-stitch project. This 87x87 quilt is a good project for beginners and experienced

              quilters alike.

              Welcome to Pat's world of circles. This is an advanced class, but intermediates are

              cordially welcomed to explore this   technique. Using few pins, templates, marking and

              cutting guidelines, you will quickly complete one block and anxiously anticipate the next

              block. The organization of the blocks is stressed. This quilt is a kaleidoscope of art and is

              strikingly beautiful. The diamond border adds definition and drama to the completed quilt.

               This is a technique class rather than a project class. We will focus in on cutting, pinning,

               sewing and pressing techniques that will hopefully help to improve your piecing and make

               all those points pointy and the seams line up on your projects.

               You may have seen Megan’s design in McCall’s Quilting magazine this summer. Now she

               will show you how to make it! This class is for the confident beginner quilter who feels

               comfortable with triangles and a little bit of appliqué. It will make a great Christmas accent

               for around the house.

               A block not for the faint of heart – this wonderful quilt will test your cutting and piecing

               skills, but it well worth the effort. This is not a paper-pieced quilt, it is based on Marsha  

               McCloskey’s book, Feathered Stars (subtitled – “Really Hard Blocks That Take A Long

              Time To Make”).

              Using all of your light, dark and medium scraps, you will delight in the finished quilt using

              a post card, plain paper, a special ruler, and Alex Anderson's book, Paper Piecing.

              This is not a Hershey chocolate candy quilt – however one that has a special fabric with

              another hugging and kissing it. You will be able to do a great piece that has a shadow look

              and without a lot of special piecing.

              This class is for a great scrappy quilt to help use up some of your blues (or any other color

              you choose). Simple blocks make this a great beginner quilt, so raid your stash and join

             Confused about how to finish your quilt? Come find out how to put on your typical binding,

             but other not-so-typical finishes such as facing, prairie points and knife edges. This is a

             technique class so you’ll be trying these techniques, but you can also bring a project to

             finish if you need help.
